God Created Gold When it comes to money our national conviction is that the central government is god (or God, I am not sure which). It is difficult to know which to rail against more vigorously, the government that tries to play that role or the citizens who nod their heads in assent. When the real God wants to create something He speaks it into being and it appears, the sun, planets, oceans, forests, and people walking around. He also created gold. I am noting this because the Scriptures note it in particular in Genesis 2. It is an interesting. . .

Socialism in the Church In 1952, the author of Witness, Whittaker Chambers, took up his sling and sailed his rock at Communism, but he also struck “something else.” What did he hit? It was “the forces of that great socialist revolution, which, in the name of liberalism, spasmodically, incompletely, somewhat formlessly, but always in the same direction, has been inching its ice cap over the nation for two decades.” With so much of the visible church attached to national fortunes and foundations, it’s no wonder this glacier extends over the liberal and evangelical church. But how could they do it?. . .

In the Greek, Economics means Oikos (Household) + Nomos (Rules). The goal is the establishment of guidelines for how something should be done. In this conversation we look at money, chores, responsibilities, gifts, labor, opportunity costs and entrepreneurial activities in our attempt to understand how best to run our households.
Jesus said the poor we will always have with us. Jesus said we are to love our neighbor as ourselves and told us about the good Samaritan to show us just who our neighbor is. But who are the poor in America? Is this just a political term or are there truly those with needs we need to be attending to? Is poor just a term about a lack of wealth or a lack of other things, greater things? How then are these needs to be met and by whom? Join our conversation as we talk about the poor and our responsibility towards them.
CLOSEOUT—Get them while they last!
Everybody talks about it. The news is full of it. But most Christians know very little about it. Economics: it’s everywhere, influencing everything, yet so rarely understood.
Economics for Everybody seeks to remedy that through an insightful and entertaining exploration of the principles, practices, and consequences of economics. Thoroughly unconventional, it links entrepreneurship with lemonade, cartoons with markets, and Charlie Chaplin with supply and demand. It’s funny, clever, profound and instructive. This DVD includes twelve 23-minute messages—over four hours of teaching.
If you want to know why economics is so important to understand, this is the series for you. In our day and age, it’s a message every Christian needs to hear.
Dr. R.C. Sproul, Jr. has done the hard work of studying the principles of economics, understanding them in the light of God’s Word, and presenting them in clear and concise terms. You’ll find that Biblical Economics is an invaluable aid for developing your own understanding of them. Read it, then give it your child to read and then talk with him about it.
