Dr. Sproul is in Bristol, Virginia this week to hold one of our Couples Camps. We will not only talk about how to be a kingdom-building, King-serving family, but we will talk about it in the context of such families. We will follow three distinct but related areas of inquiry: the biblical view of the family, the sovereignty of God, and the unstoppable spread of the Kingdom of God. If you missed this year’s camp, keep your eye open for future camps announcements.
Here you will find posts by the Highlands staff and friends of the ministry. This includes posts on Christian living from people we think will be helpful to you. We will also introduce you to new resources and special offers.
In an age where masculinity is either despised or caricatured, it’s tough to know where to stand. We walk through this world like Dorothy, mumbling, “Alcohol, tobacco and firearms, oh my!” This series of conversations looks not at what the culture has to say about these blessings, but at what the Bible has to say about them. So pour yourself a moderate drink, smoke yourself a moderate pipe, and keep a vigilant eye out for bad guys as you join the conversation. The ATF Series in 3 CDs or MP3s: #48 Alcohol, #49 Tobacco, #50 Firearms
In the West, Christians have greater access to the Bible today than at any other time in history. Most believers in the United States own several printed copies of the Bible and also have the ability to read it on a myriad of electronic devices. It is both tragic and ironic, then, that multitudes of professing Christians do not read or study their Bibles consistently. Biblical literacy in the West is at its lowest point in centuries. Even among those who do read the Bible, large portions of it remain uncharted territory. In this message, Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr. will discuss one. . .

We all have them to one extent or another; sometimes they are a constant burden on our conscience, other times they are not but perhaps should be. Maybe it’s our fault, our perhaps theirs. Join us as we have a conversation about Broken Relationships and try and discover what we as Christians should do about them. The Basement Tapes are conversations among friends. We gather monthly to have a conversation on topics related to the good life. Pastors R.C. Sproul Jr. and Laurence Windham along with their friends and special guests enjoy a stimulating conversation on a wide variety of. . .

In the June issue of Every Thought Captive magazine we take a look at money. From, as in our norm, a variety of perspectives: debt, inheritance, gratitude, the tithe, stewardship, the poor, how we teach our children and so on. In addition to our feature articles we have your favorite Top Ten List, pictures of the good life, the always popular Hit and Run shorts, part two of Laurence Windham’s serial story, The Oc.cur.rence and more. A subscription to “ETC” is still just $25 and now it comes with ten packed issues per year. Subscribe here.
Creation, Recreation, and Economics: Why the Truth That God Owns Everything Changes Everything Christians are on both sides of the political fence, some arguing we should keep what is ours, others arguing just for the state to redistribute “our” wealth. Both sides miss the most fundamental economic reality- God owns everything. Exploring themes from his teaching series “Economics for Everybody,” Dr. RC Sproul, Jr., will explore what the Bible tells us about work, wealth, and the world.
When I listened to a review copy of Dan and Karen Vitco’s CD, I thought, Wow, these people actually put the first five questions of the Children’s Shorter Catechism to music. That’s creative. I wonder if they will explain it after the talk starts. But there was no talk. I was astonished to find that the entire CD is the Children’s Shorter Catechism set to music! Teach Them the Faith (Gemstone Music, 2009) by the Vitcos is approximately forty-five minutes long and contains all 145 questions with Karen singing the questions and a children’s choir responding with the answers to guitar and keyboard accompaniment. The Opportunity for Relationship and Discipleship You’ve heard about family –based education (commonly called homeschooling or home discipleship). Many families have seen the disintegration of family relationships over the last few decades and responded by integrating relationship and character into their home and their children’s lives. But what about the 80% or more of real life not directly connected to classroom learning? What about your family’s work, your budget, your finances, your higher education and vocational training, your health care, your inheritance, and your overall financial vision? Does your family have a unified, integrated vision for where you will be. . .

Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr. exhorted Christians to preach the foolishness of Christ crucified to this world and to stand boldly against modern evils such as abortion. The gospel is offensive and therefore we preach knowing that we will be hated for the sake of Christ. http://www.ligonier.org/blog/day-2-2013-national-conference/

In the sunday school classrooms in which I taught years ago, each weekly lesson had a main idea that we repeated over and over. Platitudes such as “God loves me,” “I am special to God,” and “We are kind to one another” filled the teacher’s manual. Curiously, we did not see “God is angry at the wicked every day.” Unfortunately, twentieth century American Christians more often take our cues from Frobel and Montessori than from the Word of God. If we are to train up a generation of God-fearing Christians, we must change both the methods and content of what. . .
