Conservative Fascism

Fascism at Home It’s not fascism when we do it. The not-so-tongue-in-cheek poster showed a Nazi Germany-style “brownshirt” with a GOP armband and waving the GOP flag. They take our taxes at gunpoint (they don’t collect your 1040 at gunpoint? Try not paying it) to fund programs that undermine and destroy the family; they require us to pay them to ride behind the wheel in our own property, they “let” us incorporate our churches so they can have a tax break and then tell them what they can preach. They force our children to get vaccinations to diseases that are. . .

Should I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag?

I Pledge Allegiance to…what? It’s not like I really thought about it, but from time-to-time I wondered how a union of States could be indivisible. I guess I thought it was more of an encouraging sentiment, an exhortation. Kind of like Sonny and Cher’s United We Stand: “United, we stand/ divided, we fall/ And if our backs should ever be against the wall/ we’ll be together.” And we know how long that lasted. So, how did we get to be “one nation (under God, thanks Ike!), indivisible?” And can we be so and boast “liberty and justice for all?” That. . .

Is There Hope for a Culture in Decline?

Evidence of a Culture in Decline With Western culture in decline, it’s easy to lose sight of the progress of Christianity. In our near-sightedness, we look at the downward turn of our culture and run around like dispensational Chicken Littles screaming “The Rapture is coming! The Rapture is coming!” We forget that just 500 years ago, the “ancient” Aztecs and Mayans were slaughtering their own people and those they captured by the millions. Even 400 years ago at what became Jamestown, the Powhatan empire was a murderous, heathen, idolatrous, hedonistic, polygamist culture. And yet, God was pleased to bring forth. . .

Your TV is a Contentment Killer

Trading Contentment for Gadgets They’re designed to make us discontented, covetous, and miserable, unless we buy, buy, buy. “How many new gadgets do you need?” “Just a few more.” The Lord offers us the kingdom, if we’ll seek Him first and His righteousness. And we trade that for what the world has to offer. We look to the world for our worth and to tell us how we should look, what we should pursue and how many children we should have. Then we wonder why we’re miserable. Could it be that we’re chasing after the wrong thing? As soon as. . .

Flirting with Sexual Sin

Sexual Sin Starts in the Imagination Tonight, my Beloved showed me a video she found online called the Evolution of Beauty (see video below). It begins with a plain-looking young lady with no makeup sitting down at a mirror. Then time speeds up as make-up artists and hair-stylists work their “magic” for what seems like hours: painting her face, highlighting her eyes, concealing her freckles, hiding blemishes, teasing her hair and making her “picture perfect.” Well, not quite… After several hands transform the young lady into a super-model look, the camera flashes and the photo is shown on a computer. . .

Love Your Neighbor, Fear Your Government

Does the Government Love Your Neighbor? Author R.J. Rummel has calculated that the twentieth century was the deadliest in history, with war casualties more than twice the murders perpetrated by civilian criminals. As shocking as that number is, it is eclipsed by the number of citizens who died at the hands of their own government, an estimated 262 million. Wait, let’s look at the actual number: 262,000,000 victims of democide in one hundred years. We don’t have actual numbers because it was illegal in the US until the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, but shall we add the 39,430,800. . .
